Workshop Schedule and How It Works April 23 – Flower Pressing Workshop In this class, you will learn how to properly press flowers using traditional techniques that help preserve color, shape, and texture. This session focuses entirely on preparing and pressing your flowers so they can dry properly. April 29 – 8x8 Floating Frame Workshop In this follow up class, we will work with fully pressed and dried flowers to create an 8x8 floating frame design. You will learn how to reconstruct flowers such as roses, build a balanced composition, and turn your pressed flowers into a finished piece of art. Important: The April 29 class is intended for students who have already taken a flower pressing class with me and have flowers that are fully pressed and dried. You may also join this class if you bring your own flowers that are already pressed and completely dry. Fresh flowers cannot be used during the frame workshop. Please do not book the April 29 class unless you meet one of these two conditions. Flower Pressing Workshop Details (April 23) In this hands on workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of flower pressing using traditional techniques that help preserve color, shape, and texture. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to properly press flowers so they can be used later in artwork, frames, or other creative projects. During the class, we will cover • How to properly prepare flowers for pressing • Which flowers press best and why • Layering, spacing, and moisture control • Common mistakes to avoid • How to care for your pressed flowers during the drying process Each participant will receive a flower presser to use during class and take home to continue pressing flowers on their own. What to Bring Please bring a small selection of fresh flowers that are suitable for general pressing techniques. Ideal examples include • Roses • Carnations • Baby’s breath • Alstroemeria • Small greenery such as eucalyptus, ferns, or ruscus Limit flowers to a few blooms, about two to three roses plus greenery. Tropical flowers, full bouquets, or very thick blooms are not suitable for this class.
