Flower Pressing Class
@ The Jade Lotus Reno
Service Description
Preserve Your Valentine’s Flowers Turn your Valentine’s Day blooms into something lasting. In this hands on workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of flower pressing using traditional techniques that protect color, shape, and texture. This class is perfect for anyone who received flowers and wants to preserve them with intention rather than letting them fade away. During the class, we will cover • How to properly prepare flowers for pressing • Which flowers press best and why • Layering, spacing, and moisture control • Common mistakes to avoid • How to care for your pressed flowers during the drying process Each participant will receive a flower presser to use during class and take home to continue pressing flowers on their own. What to Bring: Please bring a small selection of fresh flowers that are suitable for general pressing techniques. Ideal examples include • Roses • Carnations • Baby’s breath • Alstroemeria • Small greenery such as eucalyptus, ferns, or ruscus Limit flowers to a few blooms, about two to three roses plus greenery. Tropical flowers, full bouquets, or very thick blooms are not suitable for this class. Follow Up Workshop Option Once your flowers have fully pressed, typically after about four weeks, you will have the option to join a follow up workshop. In that session, we will focus on reconstructing and designing with your pressed flowers in an 8x8 floating frame. This is where preservation meets art, and you will learn how to rebuild roses, create balanced compositions, and turn your pressed flowers into a finished piece.
